In order to feel the benefits of acupuncture you will ideally need around 5 treatments, although effects can often be felt within just a couple. We will discuss how you can measure these improvements at your initial appointment so you can track your progress. As well as addressing your presenting problem, the beauty of acupuncture is it treats the whole person so you will notice benefits in other areas of your physical and mental health.

To learn about the different treatment modalities I can use to help you please visit the How it works page.

Initial consultation and first treatment

During our initial consultation we will complete a comprehensive medical and lifestyle assessment together. This will allow me to make a tailored diagnosis based specifically on you, to provide you with an individualised treatment plan. We are all individuals with different factors causing ill health so no two treatments for the same condition will be the same, which is why I require such detailed information from you. This is , of course, completely confidential.

You will also receive a treatment during this appointment. Please allow up to 1hr 20 minutes for this session.

I will contact you prior to your first appointment with a few questions and some information for you, please look out for this email.

Follow up appointments

These will involve quick catch up on how things have been going since your last treatment, and then we will treat you using either your ongoing treatment plan or if you come with a specific issue that day we can work on that.

Cupping or Gua Sha

During cupping, suction cups are used to release tension in the fascia and relax the muscles. This creates space and allows replenishment of the area treated. Great as an alternative to traditional massage, It can also be used as a therapeutic treatment for certain conditions.

Gua Sha is a treatment whereby a smooth non sharp blade is applied to the skin in sweeping motions in order to clear the area treated and revitalise it. This is also used to help treat the symptoms of certain conditions especially hot flushes and coughs and colds.
